Biofuel Ignites Home Heating Co.
The company is opened Pennsylvania's first biofuel plant in 2005, and now they are trying to create the country's most environmentally friendly biofuel plant. Instead of getting power from natural gas or coal, the plant would run on the steam from an adjacent trash incinerator.
Worley & Obetz Seth Ovetz says while the business of biofuels has been a good investment, he's most concerned about reducing foreign oil dependence.
“The environmental aspects are nice about it; the economic aspects are nice about it. But we’ve got to stop fighting for oil. The reality of it is, we don’t have to (fight for oil).
Bio-oil for home heating doesn't get nearly as much attention in the media as ethanol and biodiesel for vehicles, and that's a shame. Homeowners should be more aware that they have an option for burning a cleaner fuel that will have an immediate impact on the air quality at their residence.
Tapping into any available cost-effective natural resources for fuel -- even human waste -- will someday mitigate the rising cost of petroleum for everyone.
