Don't Ditch Overnight Envelopes

Those overnight envelopes from Fed-Ex and the Postal Service don't have to end up in a landfill. The Tyvek envelopes are part plastic and can be recycled, but Fed-Ex won't take them.

According to WholeLife Times, the envelopes can be returned to Dupont in Richmond, Virginia. The Fed-Ex website also says that envelopes should be sent to Dupont.

Now companies can reduce their trash by rounding up the overnight mailers and paying to ship them to Richmond, but I think Fed-Ex needs to step up and start collecting these envelopes. Since drivers already have to pick up packages for delivery, how hard would it be for them to also carry a few empty envelopes? And if only there were a company with logistics expertise that could centrally collect the envelopes and send them to Dupont. Who could that be?

I'm betting dollars to donuts that Fed-Ex could also save some cash if it negotiated with Dupont.
