Methane Madness
The EPA's Methane to Markets program has really helped push projects that eliminate, capture or reduce the emissions of the dangerous greenhouse gas, methane. Now it's pushing even more, and planning to give away $7 million in grants.
The winning projects will identify, characterize, or implement methane capture-and-use projects in oil and gas systems, coal mining, landfills and animal waste management. Universities, nonprofit organizations and even international governments in the Methane to Markets Partner countries can apply.
Methane often gets ignored while everyone focuses on carbon dioxide, which is why this program is the necessary push we need to encourage innovation to reduce global warming.
