Weighing In On Shipping
The folks at Climate Counts, a nonprofit headed by Stonyfield Farms, Inc. and Clean Air-Cool Planet, are busily ranking the sustainability of many sectors.
The group has tackled apparel, food products, household products, media, beverages, electronics, food services, Internet and even shipping. So whether you're deciding between Miller or Coors, or USPS or FedEx, the Web site's Scorecard should help you weigh the choices.
While the shipping scorecard is useful for consumers and businesses, it's particularly interesting during the holidays, when hordes of people suddenly attack the post office and shipping stores with arms full of gifts. For the record, DHL and the U.S. Postal Service ranked best for green values and practices, with UPS following and FedEx placing last.
