A Nice Day for a Green Wedding
Weddings are a time of celebration, and let's face it, indulgence. We overpay for limos, clothes that are only worn once, flowers, and food and drink. Not exactly sustainable events, but it's a once in a lifetime (hopefully) event, so splurging is okay.
However, green weddings are all the rage this year. Green wedding planners can help to reduce the environmental impact of the event. For the truly environmentally minded who don't need the toasters, fondue pots or cash that are usually received on wedding days can ask guests to buy carbon offsets in the couple's names instead. Yes, it's a tad impersonal, but what better way for the betrothed to show that they also love the planet?
The Bonneville Environmental Foundation offers a calculator that lets you determine the carbon cost of your nuptials. TheKnot.com has helpful resources too about how to have a green wedding. Green is the new white.
