LiveEarth Coaches on Carbon Footprint

LiveEarth, the music festival and environmental awareness event on Saturday, has created a carbon calculator that rates individuals footprint.

The Live Impact Earth Conservation Plan (ECP) Carbon and Lifestyle Calculator was developed by EarthLab using data from the EPA, the Greenercars.com, Energy Information Administration (EIA), and the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).

The calculator lets you see where you stand in producing carbon, and recommends adjustments that you can make to your lifestyle to reduce your impact.

ECP creator Duane Dahl explains:

“The ECP continues the momentum of the Live Earth concerts by showing how each of us individually can begin the journey of learning how we can reduce our impact on the earth. Getting your baseline score is the first step for all consumers to begin the process. It’s more than just hybrids and light bulbs, there are thousands of simple solutions that allow consumers to take baby steps today."

If LiveEarth can get more people thinking about sustainability and at least considering how we can tweak our daily experience without depriving ourselves of a full and rich life, then the concert will be a big suggest. Change will take a long time, but these events and tools will encourage a shift in the public consciousness.
