Greening the Dry Cleaning Industry One Bag at a Time

Next in the line of reusable bags that eliminate waste: garment bags. The Green Garmento, a reusable, hanging garment bag used to cart around dry cleaning.

The Green Garmento was established to eliminate the mass circulation of one-time-use plastic bags used by dry cleaners to separate and carry home garments. Plastic, in general, and plastic bags are no exception, require loads of energy and water to manufacture; the process is neither energy nor water efficient. Plastic bags, if not properly disposed of, can end up in landfills, storm drains, habitats, and many other sensitive environments.

Cleaning and properly disposing of plastic from these areas is costly. Additionally, as plastic slowly degrades, chemicals used in the plastic is leached into soil and water runoff, polluting land and habitats, as well as water resources.

The reusable Green Garmento saves the many one-time uses of harmful plastic bags, and it is also made of green fabric. Green Garmento includes polypropylene, a material that is biodegradable and machine washable.

Green Garmento is environmentally and economically sensitive, and even spares freshly cleaned garments from moisture and wind. Polypropylene is the same material reusable shopping bags are made from, so it’s also durable. The bags come in more colors than just green and can be personalized with company logos.
