Give the "Thumbs Up" to Tough Climate Legislation
![]()
California has long been a leader in environmental legislation, especially when it comes to emissions. And if you’ve ever tried to see LA from the surrounding hillsides, you get a pretty good idea why.
In 2006, the state’s groundbreaking carbon cap law, AB 32, was passed, continuing this tradition of leadership. This June, the law is due to be scoped by the California Air Resources Board, which will determine exactly how it is to be implemented.
Despite heavy pressure from both his party and private industry, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has stuck to his guns on the legislation, keeping its original timetable, and refusing to scale down the effort. It’s an impressive move that solidifies the leadership role of the state and its governor in solving the climate change problem.
You can express your support for these measures to both Schwarzenegger and the California Air Resources Board by returning the governor’s now-emblematic celebratory gesture—send out your own personal “thumbs up” to help California “terminate” global warming today.
