Greening Bluetooth: The Iqua Sun
These days, to be a successful business person, it seems like you need a stack of gadgets, from Blackberries to Bluetooth. And whether or not these tools actually help, a user has to be constantly charging them. Iqua, a Finnish phone accessory company, has a new product out that makes the whole idea of gadgets a little more palatable: the Iqua 603 Sun.
The Iqua Sun is a Bluetooth wireless headset, but with a bit of a twist. It’s entirely solar-powered. No need to plug in and charge the Sun using electricity — its photovoltaic cell can power the device using any available light (either outdoors or indoors).
While I’m not sure how the Bluetooth aspect of the Sun holds up, I like the overall concept. Constant communication is a necessity in business these days, but it’s nice to know that even accessory makers are realizing that doesn’t mean that they can’t find a greener (and cheaper) way of powering gizmos.
Depending on where you are looking, the Sun can be purchased for about $70. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, there’s a contest going on at a blog, Cellphone 9, until May 16. As blogger Jayvee Fernandez puts it, “Batteries not included — because you don’t need ‘em!”
