InkTree Offers A Green CD Case
InkTree, a specialized packaging manufacturer, is promoting a line of green packaging for CDs and DVDs. They’re calling the product the ISE Pack, and ISE stands for Innovations for a Sustainable Earth.
The ISE Pack is a paper packaging method that eliminates the need for all the plastic of the standard jewel case and makes for simplified recycling. InkTree also makes a point of telling buyers that it can be printed on a variety of FSC or SCI certified recycled paper stock, making it extra green.
But InkTree’s gone a step beyond finding a green packaging solution for CDs and such. Their ISE Pack has an added value beyond the standard application of holding a CD. Directions, a poster or whatever the client wants can be printed directly onto the stock making up the packaging (eliminating a few costs along the way). The packaging can also be easily folded into a free-standing triangular tent, which can have a wide variety of applications for vendors. InkTree has made a point of describing a few ideas for uses for their packaging, encouraging buyers to consider their products for reasons in addition to sustainability — the easiest way to expand beyond the niche of green buyers. It’s a good business strategy, I think.

I am currently employed at a company that has a similar line of products. Many of our green packaging products can be found at sunpack.com/green_packaging. We have also implemented a new recycling program. Consumers can now send back any Sunrise Packaging product and we will recycle it for them.
I am glad to see that other companies are creating green packaging products. It is up to producers of packaging products to provide "green" options for consumers. This is the only way to make a real difference for future generations.
