Website Spreads the Word on Global Warming
One of the major problems in spreading awareness and concern over global warming is the lack of public understanding of the science involved. But now, a new website aims to spread factual, simple information on the science of defining a clear, safe carbon level.
350.org, founded by groundbreaking environmentalist, author and scientist Bill McKibben, broadcasts in many different languages, sending the message that 350 parts-per-million of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere is the breaking point between a safe, sustainable future, and damaging, irreversible climate change.
“What we need most right now are on-the-ground examples for how to take the number 350 and drive it home: in art, in music, in political demonstrations, in any other way you can imagine,” says McKibben. So come up with creative plans to represent that number and pass them on—Barbara Boxer already has.
