The EPA Stalls on Global Warming Regulations
Taking perfect cues from our recently-returned President’s performance at the G8 conference, the EPA decided today that more public comment was necessary before any meaningful regulations on greenhouse gas emissions can be enforced.
Practiced environmental pundits may recall that, after a previous series of stalling maneuvers, the agency was ordered to decided on whether or not global warming presented a serious health threat to the American people. Those same pundits might also recall that order came down over a year ago.
It’s been a long eight years of stalling, non-deciding, and political waffling from the EPA, and quite frankly, I feel like most environmental activists have been so jaded by it that they’re more than content to wait out the few remaining months until the next administration takes over.
It’s sad to see the Agency most closely connected to America’s impressive record of environmental preservation reduced to a state of such inaction, but at least it will provide a historic opportunity for the next administration to reclaim that proud national tradition with a fervor not seen since the 1960s.
