Amazon Green Announces Affiliate Launch
Amazon Affiliates, Amazon.com's affiliate program, has offered website owners an opportunity make money, and has done well for Amazon, too; an estimated 40 percent of Amazon sales come from affiliates, along with third-party sellers. This morning, Amazon made an effort to connect the highly successful Amazon Associates program with a newer project — Amazon Green.
The move allows Amazon Associates to post Amazon Green banners and logos on their own websites. Affiliates will then earn referral fees on green purchases. Amazon Green has provided buyers with a list of the green products offered on Amazon.com. Users can also promote products they feel are the best, through Your Green 3. Customers select three green products they think that everyone should have and Amazon promotes those choices above other options.
Thousands of websites depend on the Amazon Associates program to bring in some level of income. Encouraging the owners of these sites to promote Amazon Green in turn highlights the number of eco-friendly products bought through Amazon.com. It's something of a trickle -own effect that not only earns Amazon money but also creates an incentive for a long list of businesses. The difference between acting as an affiliate for Amazon and Amazon Green is intangible, but may help even Amazon's associates to earn more money.

I'm pretty happy with this new function from AA. It really puts the power of users to define what a green product is. There will inevitably be greenwashed products in the mix, but at least it is pointing people in the right direction. My green 3 were,
1) Cradle to Cradle, by Bill McDonough
2) Chico Bags
3) Jack Johnson CD's
