Soaring Heights Communities at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base will host the nation's largest community-wide solar array as the result of a collaboration between Actus Lend Lease, Solar City, Tucson Electric Power, National Bank of Arizona and U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation.

The 6 MW installation is projected to generate over 10 million kWh of electricity per year - enough to service 75% of the energy required by the community next year and eventually to provide 100% of electricity. The project will combine rooftop solar (on about 900 homes) and ground-mounted solar PV.

SolarCity will design and install the systems, which will increase Arizona's total solar capacity by 15%.
