Biodegradable Cleaners Go Industrial Strength
The ProVisions line is designed for kitchens in restaurants and cafeterias, bakeries, and supermarkets and is color-coded providing easy-to-read instructions detailing the appropriate use for each product. The line includes four types of detergents, lime and scale remover, and an equipment cleaner which is phosphate-free, butyl-free, and non-flammable, according to Zep.
The food industry is in a unique situation: they must meet a high standard of cleanliness to comply with health ordinances , yet prevent any chemical contamination that might be transferred to humans. For years, the food industry has used a part bleach, part water or at times, vinegar mix to remove any germs, grit and grime.
But, these products can be harsh to kitchen supplies and indoor air quality conditions. Using greener products has therefore, been warranted, but without years worth of experience, kitchens have been reluctant to use such products.
Green products in kitchens also prevents the need for harsh chemical and product disposal methods. For instance, pouring the used bleach-water mix down the kitchen sink is not proper disposal. Without having to use bleach, kitchens can worry less about proper disposal rules.
Biodegradable products specifically designed for industrial germ, grit and grim fighting can achieve environmental, disposal and cleaning goals of kitchens.
