Low Flow Showerhead Cleans Up on Water Savings

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word, Niagara? Lots and lots of water falling by the gallons.

Niagara now means saving gallons of water: up to 9,500 gallons a year when using the Niagara Conservation  New Earth Massage Showerhead

The low-flow showerhead pumps out 1.25 gallons of water per minute and claims to save 50 percent more water than competing low-flow productst. “We've exactly halved the water use of a conventional, low-flow showerhead"while still maintaining performance says Carl Wehmeyer, Niagra Conservation executive vice president . The showerhead, while limited on water is not limited on water pressure so you can easily wash that shampoo out of your hair. A nine-jet turbo massage head provides luxury and practicality for all users, it is self-cleaning and resistant to corrosion

Financially, the showerhead saves homeowners on their water bill and energy bill $186 a year for those using an electric water heater, and $120 a year for those running a gas water heater, according to the company. The showerhead comes with a 10-year warranty and is maintenance free, and has been designed to use not only water, but energy and heat efficiently.

Converting the average four-bedroom two bath family house to two New Earth Massage Showerheads could save  roughly $200-300 a year, and 19,000 gallons of water, or the size of a small pool. The next step in water conservatoin would be to divert shower water to toilets for grey water use.

Niagara Conservation has several other efforts to conserve water, energy and provide a better environmental outlook.

My favorite is the 1.5 gpm showerhead by High Sierra Showerheads. It uses a patented orifice that break the stream into a very uniform spray of med. size droplets. I've used the Niagara and it plugs up in less than 30 days of use. I don't know how they can claim it maintenance free.
