Saving Birds Worth the Sticker Price

A wise old owl and WindowAlert teamed up to save our flying friends. WindowAlert is helping to stop fowl from flying into windows through technologically enhanced decals.
The decals appear as frosted glass to the human eye, but to our feathered friends, the decals reflect ultraviolet light emitting a glow that is highly detectable through a bird’s eye view. This glow can be see by a bird’s retina, which is stronger than the human eye and alerts the bird to a structure as opposed to clear, clean glass they may fly into.
After repeated bird strikes to his office window, WindowAlert founder Spencer Shock decided to strike out against continued fatalities. He describes his product by saying, "humans don't notice our decals, but birds are seeing a red stoplight." Stopping birds in their tracks is one way to save the estimated one billion birds that pass on annually from flying into windows, according to the Wilson Journal of Ornithology.
While it may seem as a small feat in environmental protection, we must remember, the birds were here first. Finally, we are giving a little bit of the sky back to them by putting up a few warning signs signaling "We come in peace, please do not fly into the window."
