Large Scale Tidal Project Planned

As you surf the waves this summer, be grateful for the time to do so, but also for the opportunities it provides us: clean energy.

A deal between World Energy Research and Blue Energy Canada will foster the first 200 megawatt commercial wave power project. Using World Energy Research's financing and Blue Energy Canada's tidal power technology, ocean waves are not just for hanging ten.

Blue Energy generates power through capturing the high velocity and forceful energy embodied in ocean currents. The gravitational pull of the moon and ongoing tides also help to send waves up against the Blue Energy Turbine generating megawatts of clean power.

For those not yet convinced that wave power is a worthy investment, consider this: the energy source is independent of weather and climate change and follows the predictable relationship of the lunar orbit that is known many years in advance.

Other than knowing there will be sunlight, wave energy seems to be the only energy resource we can reliably count on.

Capturing energy using a turbine underwater certainly takes care of the skeptics who fight against wind turbines in the ocean. But, we must ask, how will a turbine machine impact sea life? It is a safer option that capturing tidal energy from constructing dams that block partial flow and passage of sea life, in effect, limiting the ecosystem vitality where dams are placed.

There are vast oceans full of waves for harnessing energy and therefore, clean energy seems limitless. Sending stimulus money to oceans can maximize the taxpayer’s return on their investment.
