Canvas Bags for the Groceries; How About for the Produce?

by Susie Kim-Carberry

Have a guilty conscious for using those ubiquitous plastic produce bags to tote your fruits and vegetables? Although our household forgo the bags altogether, for the germ phobes; the TazzyTotes Reusable Produce Bags are an excellent alternative to Eco-conscious as well as the clean conscious. The mesh bags created by JDi Designs won the Eco Design Award:

“The TazzyTotes Produce Bag received a Bronze IDEA Eco Design Award for its eco chic solution for instore produce bags. JDi Design’s winning design is 100 percent recyclable and embodies ecological principles at every stage of its life cycle.” {via Dexigner}

The totes can also serve as bulk food bag with the smartly designed erasable labels for the bin numbers. Just use the Go Green Pen which is sold separately. The JDi Design team: Adrian van Wijk, Sandy Lam, Sam Richards and Jamie McDonald from Vancouver, British Columbia, focused on identifying gaps in the emerging trend to use reusable bags. “It is very satisfying to see the thought and care we put into a seemly simple product receiving international recognition as well as market place success,” said Adrian van Wijk, Design Director at JDi Design.
