Traveling With Green Style
by Shannon Suetos Traveling for business can sometimes feel lonely and can be tedious if on the road a lot. It also can become expensive for the employer. But it doesn’t mean you have to give up environmentally friendly practices while on the go. Many hotels are serving up eco-friendly options for their guests and even helping find hotels that are eco-friendly.
Senior vice president of Best Western Ron Pohl says, “hotel guests are increasingly more conscious of the environmental impact of their hotel stays, and want to do business with hotels that share those same environmental values. Best Western’s new green hotels icon gives them the ability to patronize our green hotels.” Best Western’s website isn’t the only place you can go if you are searching for greener options. The Green Hotels Association has a list of hotels that are registered with their organization and are listed state by state. If you travel internationally enviromentallyfriendlyhotels.com is a great place to start your search. It has a database full of green hotels worldwide. Expedia and Travelocity also have sections of their websites dedicated to finding green hotels, and tips for traveling greener. If you are a fan of Yelp, iStayGreen can help you find green hotels international as well, and is a strong community that allows you to write, “property reviews, ratings, pictures, videos, and helpful tips help to build the content that is valuable to both you and the internet public.” Traveling for work doesn’t have to be all work and no play. Being able to find cost effective hotels at a price your employer can smile at while being environmentally friendly is a great first step. There are many ways to travel green, and staying at a green certified hotel is a great first step. Reprinted with permission from Ecopreneurist
