Management Team

Matter Network was co-founded by media veterans John Gartner and Michael Penwarden.

John Gartner is the President and Editor of Matter Network. He has been covering computer, internet, and sustainable technologies for 20 years. He was an editor at Wired News, launched several websites for the TechWeb network, worked as an editor at TechTV, and was the director of the product test lab at Windows magazine.

Michael Penwarden is the CEO and Publisher. Prior to launching Matter Network, Michael served as Editor of Macworld Magazine, which received two consecutive Maggie Awards for "Best Computer Magazine" during his tenure. His work has appeared in Time and USA Today and he has been featured as a commentator on CNN, NBC and MSNBC.
